Visualising Decorating

Visualising your Decorating Work

Now is the time to start thinking about decorating your home. The weather is becoming better and we are seeing the sun a little bit more.

Re-decorating your home and giving it a whole new look can sometimes be hard to start. There are so many wallpapers, paint colours and styles to choose from. So where do you start?

Some of us have amazing imagination and can walk into any house or room and visualise all the different possibilities to create a beautiful space. However, many of us struggle to work out how to make the best of the rooms in our home.

Visual aids can help us to see what options we have and can push us away from the boring usual decorating colours and open up new possibilities.

A few tips:
1) Look through home magazines and cut out photos that you like. You can make a collage of all the different styles, paint colours and interior decorating that you like and are inspired by.
2) Walk around a home store like IKEA or similar show homes. This way you can actually walk around and get a feel for the rooms and styles. This way you can visualise what could be suited and done to your home. Plus any excuse to go to IKEA is good right?
3) Go to your local Homebase or homeware store. Look at all the choices of paint available. Try not to get too overwhelmed. These days there are so many to choose from. I would suggest either buying little tester tubs to try on the walls at home or take a handful of the paint sample cards that are free. Go home and look thought them in the light of your home to better decide what you like.
4) Online visual help. There are so many apps or online services now that can help you with room visualisation. You can create until your hearts content. I guess they are like having your own interior designer at your disposal. It sounds like it a whole lot of fun if you ask me.

Whatever way you do it, you’ll end up with a revived home that you can be proud of.  Obviously anything like knocking down walls and structural work will be undertaken by a building contractor.
